GRADING in General |
||
| Grading in all my classes is simple. Roughly, a day equals a grade:
Independent Reading is measured by students taking Check-For-Reading quizzes. An A grade on the quiz means all the novel's pages count toward the goal of 1,000. A B grade earns 80-percent of the pages. A C grade earns 50-percent of the pages. There are no D grades in Independent Reading. The Positive Angle: It is possible for a student to earn straight C grades in their reading quizzes; however, if they reach the goal of 1,000 pages (500 pages per semester), they still earn the grade of A in the book for completing the project. Learn more about the Independent Reading grades here. Computer Applications for College students will be graded on successfully completing all assignments and meeting deadlines. Extra credit In English classes, students can find vocabulary words in their outside reading and earn points toward bonus A grades to overall total. Read a word and bring it in = 2 points. Hear a word and get a witness to sign = 1 point, 8 points = an Extra A grade in the book. Students are limited to 15 A's of extra credit per semester. Art production, Intro to Computer, and Web design students can earn extra credit by taking on special projects as the need arises and by going beyond the call in creativity and graphic design. Extra Credit is sometimes acknowledged on rare occasions by the student receiving a Wonderful Person Award Coupon. This coupon is good for 1 extra A grade, an excused tardy, a late paper or project, and is also worth 2 right answers on the final exam. |
