Classroom Rules

Assignments:

Due on Due Dates. Late papers are not accepted.

*If a student is absent on a due date at a parent's request, then the assignment is due upon return, or it can be emailed in on due date. Each student is given two certificates at the start of the school year (Wonderful Person Awards) that can be redeemed for forgiveness on a late paper.

Behavior:

Beyond the common-sense rules of decency and respect for one another, my students are expected to follow the 3 Bs: Be on time, Be prepared, and Behave.

Misbehavior:

My discipline policy is simple. Misbehave and the student will be assigned a VV, a Venial Vocabulary assignment.

  • For each infraction, the student will handwrite one column of vocabulary of my choice and it will be due the next school day.
  • If the column is not written, it will be doubled for the second day.
  • If the double columns are not written, student will receive a defiance referral for a Saturday School. The double columns will still be due.

NOTE: All vocab work must be done to earn a grade in my class
Venial Vocab does not raise or lower grades. It freezes grades. If the semester ends and a student is missing ANY VV work, a grade of INCOMPLETE will be posted to the report card. The "I" grade will be replaced with the real grade when work is completed.

Administrative intervention and referrals will be given only to those who fail or refuse to do their assigned Payback, and those who commit serious infractions.

Tardies:

Five tardies equals one Saturday School referral.

Cuts

There are no paybacks for cuts. My class follows the district policy. Six (6) cuts results in a Withdrawal/F from the class.

Make-Up Work for Absences

If a graded activity is missed, legally absent students can make up that work. If lecture and classroom discussion is missed, it's gone for good. See friends for notes and recollections.

CHEATING is an academic crime. Cheating in any form will not be tolerated.
  • First offense is ZERO on the assignment and a Saturday School
  • Second offense is an F for the quarter
  • Third offense is an F for the semester and withdrawal from the class
