Wonderful World of Web 2.0

Syllabus: We will explore and create content at as many Web 2.0 sites as we can fit into the week. We will proceed at a pace that accomodates everyone, so there is no telling how far along we will get. There will be no rushing. Projects unfinished one day will be continued either at home or the next class day. Sites and activities on the list below are a wish list. We may not get to all of them.

End Product: Each student will have a personal Wiki website with links and embeddings of their other creative works in this class.

Course Rationale: It is possible today to own a computer connected to the Internet, and little to no additional purchased software. It is possible to find free on the Internet virtually every service provided through purchased software. Word processing, spreadsheets, graphic editing and design, presentations, animation can all be done online, almost always for free.
Definition: A Web 2.0 site is one that hosts user-created content. In addition to productivity tools like word processors, spreadsheet calculators, presentation makers, and photo editors, the Internet is awash in sites that allow people to share and communicate their ideas, photos, art, and multimedia creations. Youtube, Ebay, Facebook, Google Docs are good examples of Web 2.0. Web 2.0 sites for education provide new and exciting ways for students to digest, interpret, create, and share course content.
We go by the Accordian Calendar - it flexes. Any projects that don't get finished roll over to the next day. There will be no rushing. If we must cut some projects to make time for others to be done well, we will. We will simply continue to visit and learn new Web 2.0 sites until we run out of time.
