Personal Inquiry Project:

Students will develop a personal inquiry project reflecting upon course readings, Internet research, instructor online lectures, and online discussions.

DUE: Wednesday of Week 4

This inquiry could be on any other Internet/education topic that intrigues you during this course.

This inquiry can be a self-reflection. Why are you integrating technology? What hurdles do you see on your horizon? How will you and your students benefit from bringing the Internet into the classroom?

Curriculum Study:

Write a brief comparison/contrast report that compares the same lesson taught without and with technology infusion.

Due Wednesday of Week 8

This can be an existing lesson plan of yours or you may extrapolate using a potential lesson plan.

Consider:

  • How does visiting the library compare to visiting the computer lab?
  • Is it easier to find information in books or on the Internet?
  • How does homework change when technology is integrated?
  • How does peer interaction differ?
  • Are there gender issues?
  •  How does enthusiasm and satisfaction differ?

Curriculum Development Project:

Using problem/project-based pedagogy students will develop a lesson/unit plan applying Internet resources to their classroom curriculum. This lesson/unit plan will be aligned with California content area standards, as well as, national and California technology standards. It is preferred that this study be based upon a lesson/unit plan currently used in classroom practice and may be the same unit that is compared in the Curriculum Study assignment

Due Wednesday of Week 8

This is the primary comprehensive project

Develop a formal plan for a Internet-based lesson/unit with all necessary handouts, scaffolding materials, and resources.  Develop goals, objectives, rubrics, evaluation techniques, timelines, and alternatives for special gifted, limited, and impaired students. Align your project with state standards.

NOTE: This course does not require you to upload all your unit content and materials. Rather, you will fill out a Curriculum Development Project Template.

Download, Fill out, rename, and return the Curriculum Development Project Template, which is attached as a Word document saved in PC/Mac compatible .RTF format. and submit it as representative of your project's contents.
