Creating a folder structure inside the My Documents folder

Any of these desktop icons will give Windows users access to their My Documents folder on their hard drive. The My Documents icon provides the most direct route. The My Computer and Windows Explorer icons show all drives initially and one must burrow down into the C Drive to find My Documents.

Once you have located the My Documents folder, creating new folders is a four-step process.

Four Steps

     1. Highlight the My Document folder in the Left Pane

     2. Select Folder from the top menu: File >New >Folder

     3. A "New Folder" will appear in the right pane. Left-click once on the highlighted text to change the folder name to LASS

     4. Highlight your new LASS folder in the left pane and again select File >New >Folder to create each subfolder inside. (Notice that you can only create subfolders inside a folder that is highlighted in the LEFT PANE.)

Macintosh users create folders and subfolders in a similar way using Finder's File drop-down menu
