A Different Drummer

A weekly humor and adventure column, now approaching its 19th year.

I have written a weekly newspaper column for my city paper, the Benicia Herald (city pop. 29,000), since 1985. I have never missed a deadline and am approaching my 900th published article. Each column averages 750 words.

My column is called A Different Drummer and my publisher allows me to write on whatever topic I please. My usual topics include education, technology, travel, personal experience, and general humor. This is my favorite moonlighting job of all.

I used to publish my own Website listing my columns, but I got too busy with other projects to maintain it. Several years articles are up, but the site hasn't been maintained lately. Be warned, if you go there, it plays Eric Clapton's Layla in MIDI in the background. Auto-sound was the Web-site rave at the time, and I never removed it. You can turn off the music by hitting ESC.
