EDU 710.B Introduction to Research for Educators

COURSE DESCRIPTION: 
Introduction to Research for Educators provides an overview of qualitative and quantitative research methods commonly used on the area of education and related social science fields.  Master of Arts students will learn how to read and evaluate research studies, analyze data, and design a masters’ project proposal that lends itself to adequate follow-up research to support your efforts in developing your project. 

EDU 716.B Reading and Writing Educational Research: Special Topics
Collect 10 – 15 articles on your area of interest – write a meta-analysis. Write a detailed proposal for a hypothetical research project you could conduct. Present it to the class. Class reviews and critiques research proposals. You do not have to actually do the research.

EDU 795.B Seminar for MA Project/Thesis Work on thesis/project

The Three Electives - The overall focus of the electives is to develop project-based, technology-infused lesson plans and classroom activities that fully integrate ISTE teacher and student technology standards, California Standard 16 technology standards, and California content standards. We want Touro candidates to progress as follows: scholar > practitioner > leader

EDU 741.B – Survey of Educational Technology

Course Description 
This class is designed to help teachers understand both the pedagogy and the methodology involved in technology integration into the classroom. They will learn theory and practical application of educational technology. We will survey a wide variety of Internet resources and various software applications. Students will explore the world of Web 2.0 and the uses of multimedia, social networking, podcasting, and embedding. Students will create one full-featured technology-infused lesson plan connected to content standards, formative and summative assessments. Students will create wikis, blogs, presentations,  and create a wide variety of online content.

EDU 742.B – Computer Applications in Education

Course Description 
Learners in this course will examine and explore technology integration strategies within K-12 networked computing environments. Content will include an examination of technology integration techniques using various application tools, instructional software, productivity software, and the Internet. Participants will also identify relative advantages for choosing technology integration strategies and resources for teachers to draw upon in developing their own technology integration activities.

EDU 749.B – Emerging Trends in Educational Technology

Course Description 
Emerging Trends in Technology prepares teachers to be technology leaders by exploring state-of-the-art programs and innovations that are reshaping education in the 21st century. The course will explore the wealth of online learning environments and adopt methods for local implementation. Web 2.0 services, Metaverses, Virtual Learning Environments, social networks, peer-to-peer networks, Usenet groups, and the world of peripherals and handheld devices will be explored. Students will each select a specific new technology to explore. They will become experts on their chosen area and present a training seminar to the class. Students will establish long-lasting networks for staying informed of the newest trends. Reading material will include RSS feeds, podcast and blog subscriptions, plus two print magazine subscriptions. Students will be expected to seek out the best new ideas in education and technology and present on their discoveries as a regular part of classroom activities.
